Panglao, where Alona Beach is located, is an island attached to Bohol by two bridges. Alona beach is a popular public beach known for its white sand, rocky cliffs, and commercial buildings that line the 1 kilometer stretch of the beach. It is where we start all of our dive days.

Interest:
-
Most interesting between 10 and 15 meters depth
-
Not interesting below 30 meters
Dive Direction:
-
Start the dive with the wall on your right shoulder, heading south-southwest
-
After approximately 30 minutes following a steep slope, ascend to 10 meters
Description:
-
At the beginning of the dive, there is a hole in the wall
-
Enter the cave in small groups from the wall side
-
The drift current always flows south and can sometimes be strong
-
Bringing a dive light is recommended to explore the small caves
Marine Life:
-
The cave is teeming with Cardinal fish and Sergeant Major fish (Abudefduf vaigiensis) waiting to be fed
-
Inside the cave on the east side, you can find White-eyed moray eel (Siderea thysoidea) and Black-finned Snake eels (Ophichthus melanachir)
-
Around the top entrance at 8 meters, Raggy Scorpionfish (Scorpaenopsis venosa) are sometimes well hidden
-
Along the wall, look for Groupers, Wrasse, and Butterflyfish
-
Near the end of the dive, when the slope begins, search in shallow waters between 5 and 10 meters for Anglerfish or “Frogfish”

Start the dive with the slope on your right shoulder, heading southwest
Description:

The dive site is located right in front of Bohol Beach Club

At the end of the dive, you will find two small jeepney car wrecks:
-
The first wreck is at 10 meters, with its roof lying next to it
-
The second wreck is upside down at 8 meters
-
Marine Life:
-
Highlights include Brown Daisy coral (Tubastraea micrantha)
-
Pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti) can be seen with the help of an experienced dive master who knows their locations
-
Schools of Sergeant Major fish (Abudefduf vaigiensis) are guaranteed
-
Black Damsel fish are common
-
Occasionally, you may spot the Banded snake eel (Myrichthys colubrinus)
-
On the sandy slope, look for Black and Blue-lined Nudibranchs (Chelidonura varians)

Start the dive with the slope on your right shoulder, heading southwest
Description:
-
The dive site is located right in front of Bohol Beach Club
-
The highlight is a small plane wreck around 7 meters, near the beginning of the dive
Marine Life:
-
Mostly small creatures ideal for macro photography, including nudibranchs, shrimps, and crabs
-
Occasionally, large schools of barracudas are spotted in the area

Most interesting between 5 and 15 meters
Dive Direction:

Start the dive with the wall on either your left or right shoulder
Description:
-
Located right in front of Alone Kew Resort, this beautiful house reef is perfect for introductory, check-up, or night dives
Marine Life:
-
During night dives, you can expect to see Basket stars (Astroboa nuda) and possibly Harlequin Ghost Pipefish
-
Baby Barracudas and many reef fish are common, including Purple Queen Anthias (Pseudanthias tuka), Moorish Idol (Zanclus cornutus), and Regal Angelfish (Pygoplites diacanthus)
-
Note: The reef has suffered some damage from boat mooring ropes and typhoons, affecting parts of the coral

Most interesting between 5 and 25 meters
Dive Direction:

Start the dive with the wall on either your left or right shoulder
-
Descend directly to 25 meters where you’ll find a semicave
-
Ascend in a zigzag pattern along the wall
Description:
-
Excellent dive site for night diving
-
Located on the west side of Alona Beach, approximately 110 meters from the shore
Marine Life:
-
At the beginning, a beautiful bow-shaped cliff where you can find nudibranchs
-
A vibrant coral garden tops the wall, home to many small fish such as Redfin, Amethyst, and Purple Anthias
-
At the bottom of the sandy slope, observe Splendid Sand Eels (Heteroconger preclara) and Spotted Garden Eels (Heteroconger hassi)
